For the last year or so I've been busy shooting lemurs at the local zoos. They have open enclosures for ring-tailed lemurs, black and white ruffed lemurs and red ruffed lemurs where the animals roam freely among the visitors. And I have to say, these little buggers are among the most friendly critters I have ever met. Ring-Tailed Lemur by Mathias Appel, auf Flickr They are curious, not aggressive at all and if you get there early when no other visitors are there yet they just hang out with you while they are sitting in the sun Black-and-white Ruffed Lemur by Mathias Appel, auf Flickr You gotta watch out for your stuff though! Red Ruffed Lemur by Mathias Appel, auf Flickr But as masters of looking derpy they offer you tons of oppertunities for great photos! Ring-Tailed Lemur by Mathias Appel, auf Flickr In short, if you have a zoo nearby that lets you get close to them I highly recommend it! They are incredible creatures and hanging out with them a little is guaranteed to be a ton of fun! Red Ruffed Lemur by Mathias Appel, auf Flickr Also, lemurs are the most endangered group of mammals, with over 90% of all lemur species being threatened by extinciton. These friendly little guys don't deserve this at all. Their habitats are disappearing and they are being kept as pets in awful conditions. They could really need our help! lemurconservationnetwork.org/www.lemurlove.org/

(well okay some of them are) thanks for sharing! Yeah, they are incredibly awesome! Some do keep them as pets, but that never works out well... With about 2 to 3 years they reach sexual maturity and at that point they can become little monsters. On Madagascar they then often end up in ridiculously tiny cages Image from lemurlove.org You also can't really tame them. They will destroy everything you own and do their business wherever they please.
