Title says all. And if yes, show off ur collection! Because honestly, who's not proud enough of their babies to show them off = w =
I go first!
These are my skulls!
From left to right: a fox skull (Pixis), a bobcat skull (not decided on a name yet) and a domestic cat skull (also, not decided on a name yet...)
They're on a piece of reindeer fur (more about that later), and behind them are some blue heron feathers that I found outside, and Baysal's and Rayquaza's feathers! (Baysal and Rayquaza are my pet birbs)
(There's reindeer hair in that jar- and that skull on it is fake my dad bought it)
And these's are my pelts!
From left to right: a fox pelt from a fur farm in Germany (Russell), an antique European wildcat pelt from Bulgaria (Sylvester) and yet another fox pelt from Great Britain (Colbert)
And regarding the pieces of reindeer fur... they're from this big pelt that I got last week:
However, unfortunately the hair on the pelt slipped a lot.
I'm already a neat freak, and my parents even more so (they are seriously not fond of my collection, truth be told), so to see how the fur shed so easily really did stress me out.
I tried to dust the ''little bits'' of loose hair off, I tried to vacuum hell I even tried to comb and eventually pluck it until all that I got was a sleek summer pelt.
But alas... Eventually I just cut the pieces of the pelt that didn't shed at all off and threw the rest away...
Apparently since the hair of reindeer are hollow for isolation, it also makes them more prone to hair slippage. Which I found out a little too late...
So please, here's my advice: never buy an animal pelt from which the hair is hollow (or just a winter animal in short).
And if you do, please make sure you're purchasing from a VERY experienced and talented taxidermist!
To this day I'm still trying to ge a refund, I'm honestly so disappointed...
... which isn't even as bad as losing this mount:
I got him for just 100 euros from a Dutch craigslist site! For my birthday nonetheless...
But I was forced to throw him away after being unable to sell him in time.
(I ran away for a short period of time and didn't want to leave him at home because I knew my parents would throw him away or otherwise treat him badly. Never did it occur to me that I'd return someday, and that apparently my parents wouldn't even throw him away anyway... He was a male wild fox, shot in the winter in Germany. He was so beautiful too...)
But either way! Depressive stuff aside, I'm still awaiting a badger pelt, a caracal- and an African wildcat skull!
And what's currently on my wishlist?
This beauty right here (a cougar skull and he's only 195 euros like, what a deal!)
