Due to their rarity and scarce breeding, I think posting this here is a bit of a long shot but I figured I'd put it up just in case. I'm looking to buy or adopt a BTS. This includes being put on a waiting list. Age and sex doesn't matter to me as they'll be a pet and not part of a breeding project. Please PM me if you or someone you know is selling one!

There are quite a few good breeders out there for northerns. I'm personally a fan of Ray at Thunder Bay Herps, but he might be out of his regular Northerns by this time of year. He had a whole bunch of them earlier when I saw him at some shows, though. I know Captive Bred Excellence is another breeder that is well-recommended. Have you joined the Blue Tongue Skink Enthusiasts group on Facebook? Breeders will often post there, and there's lots of great information in general!

Ray is out of normal northerns this season, I got his second to last (and he sold his sibling the next week). He does have some stunning color variations, but I'm not sure what your price range is, as they tend to start at over double what a classic northern goes for. Idk how set you are on a northern but he probably has some very pretty Irian Jaya babies still; his are always stunning. There is a BTS classifieds FB group here if you're interested!

moonafleet thanks for the breeder recs! @karo well it's actually for my girlfriend and she's very set on a northern, i'll check out this fb page as well. we are hoping just to get a normal BTS in the 200 - 300 USD range. edit: does ray not update his webpage often? according to his website he still has i think 4 or 6 more NBTS available. edit 2: can anyone explain what all the numbers and letters mean for ray's skinks? i am not a breeder so they're totally lost on me

Ray does not update his website at all, hah. He hasn't for a long time. But he's very friendly to talk with. Letters and numbers? The only ones that I know are M for male and F for female, but there might also be letters for different morphs. I don't think they're super important for anyone but his records, honestly. Also those prices aren't correct anymore either, he's raised them (but so has everyone else who sells northern BTS). Edit: Oh, also N for Northern, E for Eastern, etc. as far as skink species goes.

moonafleet ah, i will have to contact him directly then...? i don't know anything about skink breeding but i guess i should learn some basics like when people usually breed them so i know when to contact people about getting put on either their waiting list or when to buy from them... i've done all my research on keeping them of course but whenever i learn about a new pet i usually skip over the parts about breeding them lol

seth the best way to contact Ray is to call him. I don't know if he does waiting lists (I want to say he doesn't but I can't remember). He's always great to talk to, I call him a lot just to chat lol.
